Tganath Star System

The Tganath Star system was in many Djnars the least important of the three that the Greater Hive had begun colonization. It was not the Djnar's system of origin, nor where they had met their new Hive mates the Yesk. It had two rocky worlds, which had been terraformed into pseudo Djnaricahs. Before Biostablization, biodome hives had existed and begun mining, but the planets artificial ecosystems were believed to be stable for at least a decade, so it had been a while since the biosheilds had to be raised. They could again, for defensive purposes, but in the meantime they were merely maintained.

The system had a single yellow star, four rocky worlds including the colonized Turanga and Orzok. One of the worlds, designated Sigitalaehdua, was currently being terraformed to Yesk rather than Djnar standards. The icebound world was being melted, in the hope of creating huge seas from which the Yesk could fish, effectively creating an enormous farm world. This process was nearing completion; the next stage would be to populate its oceans with hydroform flora and fauna, but that was predicted to go quickly, and already volunteers were being selected from Mbullavinaka to colonize this new Yesk world. The other rocky world was still being assessed for colonization; it was a little to far from the sun for Djnar liking, and it was being debated whether an artificial greenhouse effect would be beneficial or detrimental to colonization efforts.

There were Three Gas giants, all ringed. These rings were being mined for minerals and ice by Large Factory stations, as well as a significant asteroid belt. This belt was currently being mined, and the possibility of colonization was currently being researched. The Djnar would love to set roots down there, but weren’t sure whether to create biodomed hives on each suitable asteroid, lump some of the asteroids together into a pseudoplanetoid, or create floating megahives out of many of the asteroids networked together.

Also in the system were the Carrier ships Koorask and Jagga, who had been Crewmates before accidentally being sucked out an airlock.

Appearing on the edge of Tganath space, the massive Vrennreki flagship, the Goliath, accelerated out of skip towards the Djnari planets. It's gargantuan 30km tall hull glided effortlessly through space, it's thirty thorium reactors powering the hulking mass of metal and explosives easily. It had been designed as an emissary vessel to other species, as a way of both showing the importance of the meeting and the might of the Vrennreki navy. The Goliath was a one of a kind Seraphim-class vessel, as on it's completion it was deemed that creating more would be a waste of resources.

Currently captained by one Admiral NerellethKodriggal-7785192, victor of the Jurdian-Vrennreki conflict and architect of the genocide of eight seperate species in local Vrennreki space, the ship's crew knew they were in extremely capable hands. 7785192 send out a broad-spectrum message to the planet Turanga and any ship in the area, stating, "Greetings, Djnar. We come with in peace, and with a proposal. Will you hear us?" He turned to his skip technician, saying, "Keep the skip drive powered."

"Hmm...I move the U bend to position 47a."
"Your expecting us to get a straight tube. There will never be a straight tube Jagga. Straight tubes do not exist. They are a myth collaborated by Novice tier constructors to delude the weak!"
Jagga chuckled, but it was bittersweet. Voorask had always had a peculiar sense of humor, but it seemed that neardeath had given it a fatalistic flavor. He had been a enthusiastic Crewmate in life, and still maintained that, but as a guise.

The Sensor Crews of both their ships reported in simultaneously. The two pilots shut down their shared videogame, and directed their attention towards Duty.
"Oh dear, incursion...Species C confirmed! Good grief that's a big boat!"
"We're big boats too, brother. All Crews to stations, man all offensive boats, prime weapons! Species C approaches and will not taste of our resources!"
Both carrier ships could sense the tens of thousands of Djnar inside them scrambling. They had prepared for this moment for all of their lives, but the actual possibility of the Greater Hives first Space battle came as a bit of a shock to the system.

"We are Djnar, we feed off fear. Darkling dreams flung us to the stars, and with gritted teeth we meet death, lance forward as we teach them the flavor of our panic!"
"Voorask, please brother, we do not yet know there intentions. We cannot be hasty, we cannot!"
"I know, but if I am to die again it is to be with Poetry in my jaws."

Both Carriers warmed up subliminal drives, then jetted towards Turanga, ready to meet this threat head on.
"Incoming signal Jagga!" This came from the sensor Crew, five of the smartest Djnar the Carrier had ever known. He greatly valued their assignment to him.
"Send it through the translator, but use quadruple firewall protocols. If anyone starts bleeding from their eyes and mouth at the sound, shut it down also."
"You read to much doomfiction brother."
"Shh, the hate-xenos are talking."

"Hail and well met, Djnar. Collectively approach, nonviolent, also, DESIRE FROM YOU. Listen (Questioning)"

"Are all ships Crewed? They know our name they know our name!"
"All ships are Crewed brother. The universe slavers after the throats of Djnar."
"Alright...I'll lead diplomatically...transmission crew, reply with the following message, once filtered through the translator, once not...Hello! We are pleased of your nonviolent motivation, please do not consider our militant stance a threat, but rather a necessary precaution in an unknown universe! We are glad to hear anything from you, how could we assist your strivings?"

The response came poste-haste, much to the Admiral's pleasure. His mild euphoria of calm diplomatic pretenses soon turned to chagrin as the translation software failed to account for the Djnar's lack of sophisticated language translation software. "Salutations! Pleased be of we for pacifist ambition, consider not threatening a threat, is needed for lack of caution, in do not know of stars! Elated to having helped you with, can we help burdens?""

With a grimace, the Admiral keyed the comms department. "Get me a data packet, I'm sending them our translation software as a gesture of good will."

AstiimovJerelingo-89119's droning voice answered him, "Aye sir." The comms staff director, himself a veteran in the field of xenolinguistics, had been one of the group of Vrennreki responsible for upgrading the translation software used aboard the Vrennreki ships nearly a decade ago. However, despite many tweaks over the years, there were still bugs when dealing with a lower level of software. His five-jointed fingers clacked audibly as he drummed his data station's keyboard display, assembling a data package suitable for the Admiral's needs. He forwarded it to the command deck thirty seconds later. "Package ready for delivery."

NerellethKodriggal-7785192 didn't acknowledge him, instead turning back to his semi-open link with the carrier ships. "I will speak in simple terms. As a gesture of good will, we are sending our translation software to you for easier communication between our two species. I will explain how it works when you have implemented it, because I do not believe it would translate well as things stand currently. It is unencrypted and you are free to scan it for any malware." There was no simple way of saying that the software compiled nearly ten thousand languages, examined the syntax, grammar, morphology, and other components of language, and cross-analyzed the stored language with new ones.

"Say minimalist, personal. Show love, collective throw computer speakknow, for efficient speak two animal groupings. Informchat function after utensils, because personal do don't do unverified speak efficient objects biped Instantaneous. Nocode so empowered readcode badcode." [/i]

Jagga's brain, even enhanced as it was by his cybernetic augmentation, had little idea what that message was supposed to say. However, he did receive a data package. He Isolated it, and probed it for a full twenty seconds, practically an eternity for a machine enhanced mind, picking apart the complex code. He assessed that it was a software machine similar to their own Universal Translator, although obviously software, using a basic Language of Twos. It was very complex, and seemed to derive from many language roots. This was somewhat suprising to the Carrier pilot; the Djnar had, so far, only met a handful of species, and only one in any depth. Yesk and Djnar as species had many languages (well, ancient Djnar. Unified Hivespeak dominated communications nowadays) but both had recurring themes which naturally limited their scope. For example, whilst many concepts for singulars had been picked up from the Yesk, and the Djnar had many more advanced technological terminology, it was theorised that given the great disparity between Yeskan and Djnaricahn tongues, other races, perhaps, would also have great disparity.

Having thoughrally inspected the software, Jagga threw it over to Varoosk, who was better at machine things. The skilled Djnar swiftly unraveled the program, then refitted it to suit a Djnar hardware to wetware computing system, then copied the result and flung it back. Both ships simultaneously installed the program.

"Ah, yes, Testing? This is Carrier ship Jagga to diplomatic vessel, are you receiving this more clearly? If there was any confusion before, we are glad to see you on peaceable terms, and would like to hear of any way we could assist you!"

Quiet settled across the deck as the Goliath waited for a response from the pair of Djnar vessels. The Admiral was anxious. A lot was riding on this meeting, and even a war hero as decorated as himself would not be left unscathed if they screwed it up. Finally, nearly a minute later, a response was received. "Ah, yes, Testing? This is Carrier ship Jagga to diplomatic vessel, are you receiving this more clearly? If there was any confusion before, we are glad to see you on peaceable terms, and would like to hear of any way we could assist you!"

The Admiral's mandibles raised, the Vrennreki equivalent of a smile. Hey keyed them back, "You're crystal clear, Carrier Jagga. This is the Seraphim-class Goliath, and I am Admiral NerellethKodriggal-7785192 of the Most Noble Vrennreki Conglomerate, architect of the extinction of eight seperate enemy species of the Conglomerate and the leading officer of the naval forces in the Jurdian conflict. Do not take this as a threat. Each species first posed a threat to the Conglomerate, and though we prefer negotiation we will not hesitate in defending ourselves and our interests.

"With niceties out of the way, I am the diplomatic envoy of the Vrennreki, and one of it's most decorated war heroes. This is a great honor, not just for you but us as well. We have come with a message of peace and prosperity. We wish to extend our hand and pass the olive branch, and offer a proposal. The Conglomerate and the Greater Hive have similar ambitions: Peaceful colonization and resource acquisition. It is in our opinion that working together would be mutually prosperous for both our people, and as such we wish to enter a peaceful alliance promising mutual defense and colonization rights of discovered systems, and the possibility of technology trade. Do you wish to hear our terms?"

This message was received, and transmitted. Unfortunately, the Djnar did not yet have FTL communications, but subluminal was more than adequate to communicate between ships, and nearby worlds. Both Varoosk and Jagga kept a constant datalink to Turanga, the Administrative hub of this system. Their communications were quickly routed through fleet administration, to General administration. At this latest, clearest message, Turanga's administrator crew, Crew Detan, decided to directly intervene.

"Efficiently done hive brothers, but we will take this from here," Dezreset Detan, the most militarily apt of the crew nodded to his Crewmate, Tesseret Detan. "patch us through to these "Vrennreki"
Dezerate tapped at his module, and conferred the audio visual feed over to his hivemate. Tesseret could not help but warble in joy; he had been trained his whole life for such a purpose. First contact with the Yesk had been an awkward, unwieldy affair; thankfully, the Yesk were a friendly and peaceable race, but the inefficiency of that first contact had been a slap to the face of the Greater Hive. Having been unified for centuries, the Djnar had become crappy diplomats.

The Hive does not brook inefficiency. Ancient texts were reexamined, theoreticals proposed and eventually a curriculum composed. Tesseret was the product of that curriculum. Ever since his crew had been singled out for Administration, he was taken aside to learn the long dead arts of tact, subterfuge and coercion. Control of emotion, pheremonal output, body language and the weaving of narrative he learned from Crew Seed, Metalworkers who were known throughout the Empire for their Dramatic performances. He was taught voice modulation by Reztag Arat, who served in the nutrition refineries, and who's rendition of the Ancient Opera "Lament of the Dzagannat", had provoked roars of assent from over two dozen blessed Mothers. Archivist Crew Nagetlag had, with toothy grins, recreated in his mind the ancient Windcarvers, messenger-prophets at whose words the barbaric Hives of yesteryear would clash at arms, or Merge to create a greater whole. Whilst his brothers had studied economics, strategy, philosophy, management and algarithmocratic force distribution, he had become something that the entire Empire, perhaps, had not seen in millenia.

He was a politician.

Tesseret, Diplomancer of Turanga, speaking with the voice of his whole Crew, and thus their whole world and, indeed, whole species and Empire, checked his audio receiver, and began to smith his words.

"Behold him, he comes; Admiral NerellethKodriggal-7785192! Great is he, the bladed tongue of his most Excellent people, The Vrennreki Conglomerate; masters of both star, world, void and indeed themselves! He turns a soft eye towards those he encounters, yet at his word they dissipate, are washed away like dust on the wind! Pure. Righteous. Just. None may escape, for the cruel hand of a cold universe has forced the Admirals hand! He may not weep, for survival demands for his race to be Strong, and strong they become, and against their noble, just wills they must crush lesser peoples mercifully beneath their ironclad tread, yes, to guarantee the protection of hearth and home.

Star striding Admiral NerellethKodgriggal-7785192, your humble servant is referenced as Tesseret Detan. With eager Yethark do we listen for your firm voice. Indeed, what are your terms?"

Their reply was met with the chittering of Vrennreki laughter. The Admiral spoke up, issuing a command to the Comms department. "Poetry. How delightful. Very well, send them the terms."

The document, once properly scanned, was downloaded. Tesseret then handed it over to Junna Detan. Junna was currently plugged into an advanced processor unit, designed to safely speed up and enhance ones mental processes. He examined the downloaded document, then approached it from a variety of angles, picking it apart as he went. As this was happening, his crew was contacting other Administrative staff across Turanga, along with several Xenobiologists, Econoethicists and Military Coordinators, for both easy access to expert information as well as witness, and assent, to what was doubtlessly a historic moment for the Greater Hive. After five minutes of analysis, Junna had prepared a response, and several other questions deemed vital were added by outsiders and other crewmates. Tesseret looked at the list, warbled softly, and began to paint his picture.

"Great Admiral, Noble Admiral! The mere thought of such an alliance makes us warble with joy, it is as warmth on ones back, on ones belly! However, and please forgive us noble Admiral NerellethKodriggal-7785192, we of the Greater hive have but a few questions, which we will send to you as a Data packet."

Queries

The Vrennreki Conglomerate and the Greater Hive of the Djnar, hereby referred to as the included parties, will follow the listed tenants:

The Greater Hive officially asks that the "of the Djnar" be dropped from the above statement, as the Greater Hive is of more than the Djnar.

Defensive pact

In the event of an attack, knowledge of an attack becoming apparent, or hostilities initiated by an outside party on the included parties, mutual defensive and offensive movements and campaigns will be initiated by the included parties within a reasonable amount of time.

These mutual defensive and offensive actions, to what ends will they be persecuted? Till the cessation of enemy offensive action, the eradication of the harmful species, ect

What is a 'reasonable amount of time'? We assume that, factoring in mobilization, production and travel time, the intention is that action will begin when knowledge is known. Are we correct in this?

What are hostilities, as you see them?

What is Knowledge, as you see it?

What is Reason, as you see it?

"No vessels, military or otherwise, being operated by the included parties will not be attacked by the other. The event of a break in chain of command, mutiny, or control of the vessel otherwise lost results in this tenant being void"

OOC: I'm assuming you dont actually mean that our ships will be compelled by this agreement to fight each other

What is attacked, as you see it?

What is a Vessel, as you see it?

What is Operated, as you see it?

What is control, particularly relating to the afore clarified 'vessel', as you see it?

Non-classified information on space-faring species, both already known and newly met, will be shared freely and openly between the included parties in the interest of assessing potential threats or reaching out to potential allies.

What is classified, as you see it?

As you see it, what is reasonable to classify?

Colonization pact

Information on current and planned colonized systems will be shared openly and freely between the included parties.

To what extent shall information be shared? Relative galactic position? the strength of military postings? Economic output?

We assume, when you say 'planned' you mean within a certain period of time. What is that period of time?

Colonized systems will be officially recognized as lawful territories of the included parties and no hostile incursions are permitted by the included parties into their respective territories.

What is a Colonized system, as you see it?

What is a lawful territory, as you see it?

What is a hostile incursion, as you see it?

Peaceful travel between systems by the included parties in their respective territories will be allowed.

What is peaceful travel, as you see it?

What are ones "Respective territories" as you see it? How much of the void is within ones "respective territory"?

Social Pact

Trade of goods between the included parties will be encouraged or supported.

What is trade, as you see it?

What are goods, as you see it?

What is encouraged, or supported, as you see it?

When speaking of trade, it is perceived as necessary to inform the Noble Vrennreki Conglomerate that the Greater Hive does not, as it where, possess a 'private sector'. All material and immaterial resources are collectively owned.

The construction of embassies for the included parties will begin within a reasonable amount of time in all established colonies.

What is construction, as you see it?

What is an embassy, as you see it?

What would be the legal status of such an Embassy?

What is 'all established colonies' as you see it? To clarify, do you mean planets colonized or population bases established?

In the event of the purchase of trade of a system or planet between the included parties, a community of established colonists may remain on said system or planet.

What is a community, as you see it?

What are established colonists, as you see it?

What would be the legal status of these remaining colonists?

General Queries

What is the primary goal of the Vrennreki Conglomerate?

What is your dominant philosophy, and may we please have a detailed explanation of it? Please send any relevant documentation as well, such as holy texts, philosophical papers, ect.

May we please exchange biological and medical data of one another?

May we please exchange historical data with one another?

May we please exchange artistic materials with one another?

May we exchange recipes for food and drink, that the Djnar may hospitably greet the Vrennreki face to face as well as properly accomedate any Vrennreki on our worlds?

Are the Vrennreki in possession of FTL communication Technology, and if so, may we discuss the terms by which the Djnar may acquire such technology?
