PostSubject: README: Species Index   Thu May 02, 2013 11:56 pm

The Species Index is used to log and process species- and faction-applications. Non-staff members are forbidden from posting in the Accepted and Rejected subforums, though criticism and suggestions may be offered to applications posted in the main Species Index section.

If you have any issues with accepted or rejected applications, you may PM the original poster and the staff member who accepted or rejected the application with your reasoning as to why you think the result should be changed. This is not a guarantee of the result of being changed, but if your complaints are found to be valid, the applications may be authorized for modification, which may in turn lead to the result being changed. This is intended as a means for small things to be changed in an application (in the case of an accepted application) to better suit the roleplay or maintain consistent power levels.

In the case of your application being moved to Rejected (with a reason why), you may PM the staff member responsible and another staff member to discuss it and add changes that may in turn get it reconsidered. Do not repost your application in the Species Index, or it will be deleted regardless of changes. An application should only be rejected if the original poster refuses to make appropriate changes in compliance with the rules.

-----

In the following two posts, two distinct application forms will be posted, with the meaning of each field and a block of BBCode that may be copied and pasted for easy use.

You are expected to post both applications in the same thread in most cases, preferably divided by some means. Each application is intended to cover one species or one faction. If you have multiple distinct species, use the application several times rather than putting them all on the same application, separating them by some means (usually another post in the same thread).

Species Name: Name of the Species
Physiological Description: Physical and biological description of the species. A complete biological profile is not necessary (such as explaining cell respiration), but unique organs and other features should be described.
Native Culture: The general culture of the species prior to joining a stellar faction, including their social structure, religion, mannerisms, and so forth.
Factions: The factions the species can be found in.

Code:

[b]Species Name:[/b]

Faction Name: Name of the faction (including initialism, if applicable)
Faction Type: Government type of the faction, eg, democratic commonwealth, hierarchical empire, protectorate choosing leadership through gladiatorial combat.
Species: Species within the faction.
Planets: Planets owned by the faction (new factions should keep this down to a handful). Names are not necessary, but some form of identification would be best, as well as a designation for the primary purpose of the planet (mining, population, and so on). Major space stations, moon bases, and otherwise non-planetary territory should also be listed and labeled as such.
Culture: Dominant culture of the faction, such as religion and social mannerisms. Include also how the government is run, and (if relevant) the influences on the faction's species, economy, and territory.
History: A summary of how the faction came to be and any major events it has experienced.
Technology: A technological summary of the faction (their lowest available tech, average tech, most advanced tech). Include their FTL method and their Tech Ratings
Military Forces: The approximate military forces of the faction, if any. You can include ship class descriptions if you like. Keep in mind that the assumed average for ship size (be in length, width, or height) is somewhere around one to five kilometers. Assumed average fleet size is 250-500 ships per world.

[b]Species:[/b]
